Skymaster Mods & Parts
Evolution of the
Ultimate Skymaster
The story began in the 1950s with the dream of a Cessna Engineer that had the
vision of a SAFE
(centerline thrust) light twin engine airplane that could be flown with a
higher margin of safety than a conventional light twin.

In
1963 Cessna introduced its first centerline thrust light twin engine airplane, the Cessna
336. This was a fixed gear, 4-6 passenger airplane with 210 hp normal aspirated Continental
engines with a cruise speed of ~160 mph. The gross takeoff weight was only 3900 lbs.

In
1965 Cessna introduced the first retractable model which it designated as a Cessna 337.
The gross takeoff weight was increased to 4200 lbs.

In
1967 Cessna introduced the first turbocharged model which it designated as a Cessna
T337. The gross takeoff weight was increased to 4300 lbs.

In
1969 Cessna increased the gross takeoff weight to 4630 lbs (Still using the Continental
360 engines)

In
1973 Cessna introduced the first turbocharged and pressurized model including an
air stair door which it designated as a Cessna T337G. The engine manifold pressure was
boosted to 37” with 225 hp for take off, and the gross takeoff weight was increased to 4700
lbs.

From
1973 to 1980 Cessna continued to make many subtle improvements to the Pressurized
Skymaster. Serial number P337-0356 in 1980 was the last Pressurized Skymaster that
Cessna built.

In
1994 Aviation Enterprises developed and installed a Liquid cooled V-8 engine with a
propeller speed reduction gear box on a 1964 model Cessna 336 for research and
development.

From 1994 to 2010 Aviation Enterprises has developed numerous modifications for
all of the Skymaster models
. Among these are an improved cabin ventilation system, an air
conditioner system, winglets, tail boom fairings, a variety of auxiliary fuel tanks for long
distance and ferry flights, rear engine cooling mods, landing gear malfunction warning lights,
engine fire detection systems, engine replacement of the Continental 360 engines to the
Continental IO550 and TSIO550 engines.

In 2006 Aviation Enterprises built the first Ultimate Skymaster. This airplane has 700+
hp, it will go up to 300+ mph, and has the capability of carrying up to 405 gallons of fuel for
very long distance flights.
