Rear Engine Cooling Modifications
for Turbo and Pressurized
Skymasters

Rear engine cooling modification for Cessna 336/337 Skymasters to improve
air flow to and thru the rear engine cylinders:

Problem:
Rear engines on Skymasters (especially the Turbo Models, namely the Riley Super Skyrocket)

Run 20-30 degrees hotter than the front engines due to less efficient airflow

Excess heat is the air-cooled engine's worst enemy

Solution:
To address the rear engine cooling problems on many Skymasters, including the TSIO 550 engine STC we:

Designed and tested the installation of multiple scoops

On the top of the rear cowl & louvers
On the rear cowl flaps
On the lower rear cowl area

Outcomes:
With use of multiple scoops and louvers:

Decreased operating temperatures of the rear engine to within a few degrees of the front engine
Increased durability and dependability of the rear engine and cylinders

$2000-$3000 savings each time it saves one cylinder*

*On Riley Superskyrockets it extends the life of the rear engine by ~600 hours
This is a savings of ~$30,000
